Regarding Representation on Promotion Process

Dear Members,

Regarding your representation on promotion process

This has reference to the representation given by a number of officers regarding the promotion to grade 'D' to 'E' with specific reference to the clause on residual service. In this regards the following is submitted to all of you for perusal and thought process-

1. As all of you are aware that the entire promotion policy as approved and being implemented by the bank since panel year 2013 onward has been challenged by the AINBOA in the Mumbai high Court and all of us, including the bank, shall be bound by the decision of the court of law.

2. Needless to say , that when the entire policy is under judicial challenge then the clause on 'residual service' is also under a challenge and it is not morally , legally or otherwise feasible for AINBOA to ask/request the management to proceed ahead with the promotion process under the present policy.

3. In fact, we have once again requested the bank (please refer to blog) to not to proceed ahead with the process till the legal outcome on the issue but bank has decided to proceed ahead, though it says that it will be bound by the final outcome from the court on the issue.

4. I think, all of us, see beyond our personnel ambitions and aspirations, at least at times,  and don't give a chance to others to view us as a divided lot...unfortunately any policy- new or old- will have debatable points and clauses-favouring some while not favouring others-as a mature and logical persons let’s try to see the things in a larger and holistic perspectives...it is sad that we suddenly tend to view things with our self centred approach only...i hope all of you-those who are in favour of so called 'residual service' and those who are not-will ponder over the things in right perspective and rise above the self for the cause of organisation as also the AINBOA...let’s hope we find a solution which is acceptable to all...and we are working in that direction...hope bank and top management also sees the reason and takes the initiative...

Yours sincerely,

Dr D S Chauhan
