Please refer to the notice issued by General Secretary AINBOA for holding National Council Meeting at Shimla on 16th & 17th May 2013. Members of Shimla unit whole heartedly welcome all the National Council members and other delegates to the Queen of Hills ,Shimla.

About Shimla City

Shimla is located at foot hills of Dhauladhar range of Great Himalayas. It is approximately 5500 ft. above sea level. The climate at Shimla during 2nd -3rd week of May will be pleasant, however visitors should carry woolens & thermals alongwith them. Tourist places of interest in and around Shimla are Mall Road, Scandal point, Jakhu Temple, Institute of Advance Studies, Defence Museum, Chadwik fall etc. While moving on foot or climbing uphill or stairs, one should move very slowly to avoid any inconvenience. Water consumption should be atleast 2 litres per day. One should not venture out of ACSTI after dropping by bus/taxi at ACSTI in the early hours of morning and after evening. Proper precauation should be taken to avoid exposure to morning and evening cold. Always move with a woolen garmets with even during day.

Communication:

- Shimla is connected with Chandigarh by narrow gauge train starting from Kalka, (Kalka is around 20 Km from Chandigarh) which takes about 7 hours to reach Shimla railway station.

- Bus from Chandigarh / Delhi (Ordinary / VOLVO) .

- Taxi from Chandigarh

The details regarding stay, food etc. are as under:

1. Stay : Stay arrangements have been made at ACSTI, Sangti, Shimla near Summer Hill Railway Station. ACSTI is located near Chadwik fall and surrounded by pine & deodar trees. In the morning one will have a unique view of thousands of varieties of birds. Stay in the institute will be a treat to enjoy the calmness and nearness of nature.

2. Distance ACSTI, Sangti and how to reach ACSTI ,Sangti, Shimla

Sangti is approximately 7-8 Km from ISBT (New Bus Stand ) and Railway Station Shimla. One can reach Sangti from old Bus Stand, ISBT (New Bus Sand) and Shimla Railway station by taxi.

Taxi charges - Rs. 300/- for small taxi, Rs. 400/- for SUVS.

From Summer Hill railway station: It is 2 Km but journey can only be performed on foot. Summer Hill railway station comes just before Shimla Railway Station, the final destination of the narrow gauge train coming from Kalka.

3. SHIMLA (ISBT), RAILWAY STATION, OLD BUS STAND (Distance and how to reach Shimla)

• One can reach Shimla by road from Chandigarh. One can also reach by ordinary or luxuary buses starting from ISBT Chandigarh / Delhi which takes around 4 hours from Chandigarh and 8-9 hrs from Delhi.
• Narrow Gauge train from Kalka is available upto Shimla which takes about 7 hrs.
• From Chandigarh by taxi takes about 3 -4 hours.
• One can book video coach (VOLVO) from New Delhi (over night) through internet Haryana,Punjab or Himachal State Transport Corporation.

Charges / Fare :

-Taxi will charge between Rs. 1800 to Rs. 2200/- from Chandigarh to Shimla.

-Bus : Rs. 100 to Rs. 350/- from Chandigarh to Shimla and Rs. 850/- from New Delhi to Shimla .

-Tea & breakfast on 16,17 & 18 May 2013 will be served at ACSTI.

- Dinner on 15th will be at ACSTI.

- Lunch & dinner at RO on 16th & 17th .

- 18th May 10-12 AM is check out time. If any member wants to stay for 18th & 19th, he will have to send his request before 20th April 2013 and will have to pay @ Rs. 250/- per day (lodging only).
